Grandma Lula Says Relax

Yep, that's my Grandma Lula, the Legendary host to every holiday meal for The Russells. She was divorced which back then might have been scandalous and I was too young to get it but what I saw was that I had the cool grandma. She wore Chic jeans and high heels and worked at JC Pennies!
And get this, Lula was the hip grandma that pretended to shop while she caught shoplifters! That was her job!!!
She also had the knack for not putting up with any shenanigans which I don't think I appreciated until now. Lula grew up with a dirt floor and ten siblings and was so country and sooooo cool! An independent lady whose family members wouldn't dare miss a holiday get-together. And who would? It was always so fun playing card games with the cousins, not to mention eating pecan pie!
I wonder if Grandma Lula stressed about the house and cleaned all crazy and hoped the gravy was gonna turn out right?
I never saw that part but I'm feeling it now as I have my Mom and Dad coming over tomorrow. I never say that part but I'm feeling it now as I have my Mom and Day coming over tomorrow for the holiday. It's been a while for guests of any kind for me and I'm just watching myself and wondering when "run around crazy" became a part of holiday get-togethers?
In fact, as I sit here, I now declare that it will not be a part of my holiday. I can be the cool lady who followed her heart until she found what she was good at...helping people get out of pain, teaching them how to take care of their body, to listen, sofen, and feel.
AND that lady bought a cooked turkey with gravy from Whole Foods. And instead of the crazy clean, I'm gonna do a little elongated child pose. Oh, and that guy with the fun hair? That's my brother. This was in the eighties and he was really pushing some edges. I was so proud:-)
Happy Holidays! Make it just how ya like it!
